The retained players are categorized under two categories which are the capped players and the other is uncapped players of the team. Each team during the auction of the players in IPL are allowed to retain only a specific number of players which is normally around 4 to 5 players per season.

He was followed by Virat Kohli from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Nicholas Pooran from Lucknow Super Giants who were provided with 21 crore rupees to each of them.  

Mumbai Indians (MI) 

Starting with one of the most famous teams in the Indian Premier League which is none other than the Mumbai Indians, they have retained 5 players in all. The franchise of Mumbai Indians had 120 crore rupees in total and after the retention of players, they are now left with 55 crores left in their pocket for the Mega Auctions for the IPL 2025. Here is the IPL 2025 Retention List for Mumbai Indians – 

1. Jasprit Bumrah – He is retained by a given salary of 18 Crores. 

1. Surya Kumar Yadav – He is retained and is paid with the highest salary along with Hardik Pandya which is 16.35 Crores.  

1. Hardik Pandya – Hardik is retained by paying him the highest salary when compared to all of his other retained fellows which is 16.35 crores.  

1. Rohit Sharma – The Captain of Mumbai Indians has been paid with a salary of 16.30 crores for retention.  

1. Tilak Verma – He is the last retained player by Mumbai Indians (MI) and was paid 8 crores for the same.  

With this Mumbai Indians (MI) is left with 1 Right to Match (RTM) card for the season which will allow them to retain one uncapped player from the previous squad with they can bid the highest bid made on the player by any of the other 9 teams from IPL. 

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)  

The second team on our list is Chennai Super Kings (CSK). They had 120 crores in their pocket before the retention of players and now have 55 crores left in their pockets for the Mega Auction of IPL 2025. Here is the IPL 2025 Retention List for Chennai Super Kings – 

1. MS Dhoni – MS Dhoni is the face of CSK and hence it was obvious to retain him, he was retained and was paid 4 crores for his retention.  

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad – He was paid with one of the highest amounts among his fellow retained players which is 18 Crores.  

1. Ravindra Jadeja – Being an exceptional and key player in the previous season he was paid 18 crores as well which pays off his hardship and dedication.  

1. Shivam Dube – He is paid 12 crores for the retention and was retained due to his key role in the previous season. 

1. Matheesha Pathirana – He is from the Sri Lankan team and is paid 13 crores.  

With this Chennai Super Kings is left with one Right To Match (RTM) card with which they can match the highest bid made by another team for a previous player of theirs.  

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) 

The next team is one the most famous teams from IPL which is none other than Royal Challengers Bangalore the team had 120 crores in their purse, and after they retained 3 players they are still left with 83 crores in their pocket. Here is the IPL 2025 Retention List RCB –  

1. Virat Kohli – As expected and predicted he is one of the second highest-paid players among the retained players list and is paid 21 crores for the same.

Delhi Capitals (DI)

1. Axar Patel – He is paid the highest among his fellow team of retained players of DI which is 16.5 crores.

1. Abhishek Porel – He is paid 4 crores for the retention of the team.
