History of Rivalry between India and Pakistan

The rivalry between India and Pakistan has been there since the partition n took place in the year 1947, this partition was the reason for not only the regional and religious boundaries but also marked the starting of this rivalry and unspoken competition between each country.

Now the different opinions and rivalry between the countries gave birth to this. Now the media, statements made on national levels, and also the public-based stereotypes of the netizens all together have formed a strong roots till the depth in almost every field and this has not left alone the sports. Hence sports have become a large mode of showing rivalry between each other.

This has been in sports since the years 2012 and 2013, it was the time when the terrorist attack came up on India in 2008 there was a long hiatus of 5 years when there was no match held between India and Pakistan till late 2012 and early 2013. During this time when Pakistan toured to India for the limited-over series, there was a huge spark of hate between the countries and netizens over the same and since then India and Pakistan have limited their ground meet in cricket to only the ICC matches.

India will not travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy

Now here after the announcement that India will not travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions trophy, there again is a huge gossip, and has become a hot topic in the sports news which needs to be settled down as fast as possible.

This decision made by the Board of Cricket Council in India (BCCI) has the main concern related to the safety of the Indian Cricket team players, and the concern is valid after the attack made on the Sri Lankan cricket team in the year 2009 when they went for the cricket match and were attacked in Lahore of Pakistan.

BCCI has pointed it out and has been straight forward that the safety of Indian Team members is their top priority and they will not reconsider anything that will cause any kind of harm to their team, which is quite a valid reason and hence team India will not travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions trophy.

Standing on foot to this decision, BCCI has asked the International Cricket Council to decide on a neutral venue for the same so they can continue the match without any concerns and problems.

Earlier Pakistan was supposed to host all the matches of the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions trophy but due to the demand of BCCI to host the match somewhere neutral, it might not happen anymore. As BCCI plays a very important role in the decision-making of the cricket matches being held in Pakistan, it might turn out that the match will be held to some neutral citing. Where BCCI has suggested a few locations, including the United Arab Estates or Sri Lanka.

As for Pakistan, it might turn out as a huge loss as this event was about to be held solely by Pakistan and in Pakistan which was the first ICC series held in Pakistan after the year 1996. The top seven Cricket teams were supposed to be competing against each other for the ICC Champions Trophy Title which would have benefited Pakistan a lot but, as per diplomatic and political concerns, it seems to be very difficult to do so. So now everything depends on the decision that is to be made by ICC.

Conclusion of ICC after BCCI’s Announcement

The chances of the relocation of the venue for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 are greater after the announcement of BCCI that India will not travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions trophy, as earlier in 2023 the location of the cricket match was shifted from Pakistan to Sri Lanka during the Asia Cup of 2023. Although the hosting was decided as a hybrid one where Pakistan hosted the series partially.

As per the media and sources, a budget of $65 million was already sanctioned for the hosting of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Earlier the Chief Executives Committee (CEC) stated that the agreement of hosting the tournament, where the claw of hoisting it outside of Pakistan has already been added.

As for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, it is supposed to start from mid-February of 2025 which is from 19th February 2025 and the final round of the match is to be held on the 9th of March. This sums up the tournament of three weeks. The match will be played in the Round Robin format.

As per the reports and data, India is the country that is the reason for building up the highest revenue and charges for the match, hence the absence of such an important team will have a vast effect.

The decision not to host the match in Pakistan will turn out as a disadvantage for the country becoming the one that would not be able to run the hosting of the match which will affect them in the future.
