Virat Kohli, a name that everyone is aware of, just at the age of 35 years, has achieved the height of success and fame which is not attained by many even in their whole life. Being born into a Punjabi family on 5th November 1988, in Delhi which is also the place where he spent his childhood in Uttam Nagar. He has been interested in cricket since the age of 3 years of age when he used to pick up his bat and ask his dad to bowl for him.

His father upon seeing his talent and dedication arranged his meeting with Rajkumar Sharma which led to his enrolment in a professional Cricket Academy.  

Although he was unable to get selected for the under-14 Delhi Team, during that time his father received many offers from official cricket clubs which would have ensured his selection, but he rejected the offers, and then Virat through his hard work and talent achieved his place in the Under-15 Cricket team, where he received his professional training under the observance of experts. 

 Personal life  

Virat Kohli lived in Delhi with his father who was a criminal lawyer and his mother who was a house maker along with two siblings one sister and one brother. His father has always been his support system in his career, he often expresses the love and respect he has for his father, he said that his father was the one who used to drive him to the practices and encouraged him for the sport. It was the year 2006 when he lost his father due to health issues which was devastating news for him and his family.  

Coming to his romantic life, he was associated with the actress Anushka Sharma in the year 2013 after they both came together for the shoot of the advertisement of shampoo and instantly earned the title of “Virushka”. They met and dated for quite a while before they decided to tie themselves together in a knot on 11th December 2017 in Florence, Italy.  

Living a very private life with little and nil exposure to media they had their first child which is a daughter on 11th January 2021 and named her Vamika, they then welcomed their second child which is a boy on 15th February 2024 and named him Akaay. Virat Kohli has been a perfect example of a celebrity as well as a perfect gentleman who knows how to value his personal life and prioritize his privacy. 

Cricket Career of Virat Kohli 

Virat Kohli has been interested in cricket since a very early age but his professional training started at the age of 9 years when he was enrolled in the West-Delhi Cricket Academy by his father. After getting selected for the under-15 Delhi Cricket team and receiving professional training, he was seen in first-class cricket at the age of 18.  

He was seen under the spotlight after he was the captain of the under 19 cricket team in the year 2008 which also won the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup which led him to get into the international team.  

He made his ODI debut for internationals in 2008, August against Sri Lanka, where he instantly received the eye of the audience, he later started to receive fame in 2009 when he scored a century which was specifically 107 runs against Sri Lanka. 

He had his Test debut on 20th June 2011 where he did not perform well at the start but eventually, it turned out very well when he became a dependency for his team during his match against Australia. 

His T20I debut took place on 12th June 2010 with the help of his excellent ability to chase the score with his aggression and became a key member of the team till then and his debut against the team Zimbabwe. 

He then with his excellent batting style and talent started to become a dependency for the team as a star as well, he was known for his performance in ODIs and T20s. 

He was a key member during the iconic win of the ICC Champions Trophy of 2013, he was then announced as the captain of Test cricket after MS Dhoni announced his retirement from Test Cricket. 

He became a superstar during the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2016 when he scored 973 runs in a single series which is a record since then and has been broken by none.

Virat Kohli has created the record to score the fastest from 8000,9000,10000,11000, and 12000 runs which is itself a depiction of the legacy he holds in his field.

Virat Kohli being an iconic batsman has scored around 7500 runs in Test Cricket with around 50 and 28 centuries.
